POST-MATERIALIST VALUES AND THE ADOPTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL INNOVATION: THE CASE OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Stephane Callens, Sofiane Cherfi and Charlène Boyom

Proceedings of the INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE, 2014, vol. 8, issue 1, 577-589

Abstract: This research highlights the relationship between post materialist / materialist values and adoption / rejection by the consumer of an environmental innovation. The comparative study is based on data from the World Value Survey (2010-2014), made by a sample of 54 countries, representing the world's population. The adoption of electric vehicles as innovation differs across countries and post-materialist values. These differences give rise to new pro-environmental recommendations.
