Abstract:
If muscular mass decreases, the body's ability to consume calories is reduced and thus the person becomes more prone to fattening. The mere use of low-calorie diets lead to a reduction in metabolic rate, which is manifested by loss of muscular mass, while exercise counteract this phenomenon, reducing the catabolism of structural proteins and inducing metabolic use of lipids as substrate. The main mechanism by which exercise helps weight loss is not fat as raw material consumption of energy but that it creates caloric deficit. To lose 1 kg of fat should be made a deficit of 7,000 kcal. The deficit may be achieved by reducing the amount of food, or making more effort, or both.
