MAPPING THE LANDSCAPE OF TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT: A COMPREHENSIVE BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Abstract: The presented herein bibliometric analysis delves into the intricate relationship between transport infrastructure and regional development, aiming to fill a gap in the existing literature. Utilizing a number of widely recognized bibliometric techniques, such as citation analysis, co-authorship analysis, co-occurrence analysis, and bibliographic coupling analysis, the study provides a holistic overview of key trends, research clusters, as well as methodological approaches in the field. Notably, the citation analysis reveals a diverse array of highly cited papers, ranging from green logistics to the impacts of COVID-19 on the global economy, underscoring the multidimensional nature of research in the domain. The co-authorship analysis illuminates complex collaborative networks among countries, with prominent clusters such as the European and the Asian-Pacific clusters, highlighting the dynamic and interconnected nature of international collaborations. The co-occurrence analysis identifies four thematic clusters, emphasizing the interconnectedness of infrastructure, regional development, economic growth, environmental considerations, and spatiotemporal dynamics. Methodological approaches, dominated by economic theory and quantitative methods, are also classified. Addressing limitations, including the potential bias introduced by specific keywords and database restrictions, the research provides valuable insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, paving the way for further refinements in understanding the evolving landscape of transport infrastructures and regional development research.
