Abstract: The paper aims to compare social-choice formulations of libertarian rights with game-form formulations. Gaertner, Pattanaik and Suzumura have put forward a critique of Sen's formulation of individual rights. They demonstrated that Sen's concept can be inconsistent with the "intuitive conception" of rights. They proposed an alternative approach in terms of game-form. The present paper deals with two issues: the first one is to explore the logical relationships between the intuitive conception and Sen's notion of minimal liberty; the second issue is to point out the advantages and the limitations of the game-form formulation.
