Abstract:
The Italian North East area (Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige) has been a crucial driving force for the national economy during the last 4 decades. At the beginning of the year 2000 several shocks caused a renewal in manufacturing and managing structures. The 2008 crisis closed a cycle: the decrease of regional GDP, the fall of foreign investment, a negative natural balance and the loss of 63,000 jobs are the main explanatory indicators. Qualified human capital, orientation to international market and digital manufacturing are the three key for the future of the area.
