Abstract: Tourism is a popular regional development strategy with both positive and negative impacts. In this paper, ordered probit analysis is used to isolate individual and community attributes which influence residents' attitudes toward tourism. This approach can be used to help design an appropriate tourism-based development strategy for a given community.
