Abstract: The nexus between globalization and family life is complex. Besides this, often it comes as a surprise to many that a mutual interference between the two entities exists. The influences of globalization through its manifestations and through the policies of the nationstate impact the family. Surprising is also that the intergenerational relationships within the family, relations that dictate the actions and inactions of the family, ultimately contribute to the success or failure of economic and politic agendas. Beyond the economic and politic plan, there is the social plan. Globalization is acting in the direction of transforming the social plan, while the family is traditionally a unit of social cohesion. My realization is that we are in the midst of a change that needs a greater holistic perspective because it is profound in it enormity.
