Abstract: Initial, sistemele de informatii geografice au fost utilizate in mediile de afaceri, de catre marile corporatii, deoarece hartile rezultate puteau sa le ofere o “abstractizare” suficient de fidela a realitatii si care aveau un rol deosebit de important in stabilirea pietelor (Harris, Longley, 2002).
