Abstract: In this article, the authors analyze the measures of the EU directives regarding the energy and environment domain and the strategy of aligning Romania with the EU directives on environmental control. At the same time, the authors analyze Romania’s strategy of alignment with European directives on water quality control as well as general waste management. In the final part, the authors point out that industrial and other activities also cause industrial pollution. The authors grant enough room for control and risk management in this area. The study is based on the European Union directives on the above-mentioned issues, highlighting both the measures taken by the European Union, the level at which they are located and the steps that Romania should undertake in this field. Of course, in 2007 when Romania’s access to the European Union was achieved, the European Union measures were considered and consequently a chart was established or, in fact, several charts, in which Romania step by step had to solve certain aspects so that, gradually align with European standards. There are briefly presented the measures taken, most of them resolved, there are some lagging behind, and by direct reference to the EU directives it is specified what Romania has to do to eliminate all the lagging behind in order to comply with the standards European policies in terms of environmental protection, avoidance of pollution and future compliance with European strategies on the basis of which Romania must set its own strategy. The article also presents relevant data attesting to the steps that Romania has taken and which it must undertake in order to reach the standard required or imposed by the EU member state.
