Abstract: In this article, the authors focused on analyzing and presenting the development of the information society as a major trend in the evolution of research and its application in socio-economic activity. In this regard, the European Union has approved a digital agenda which describes the steps that can and must be taken over the ten-year period (2010-2020) as well as in the longer run. The EU Digital Agenda foresees seven steps (steps) to be followed, which relate to the areas in which they can be applied, in order to create the unique digital market in the European Union. The authors carry out a careful analysis of the perspective of the development of the information society in the member states of the European community. The data are presented with suggestive charts, highlighting Romania as the last of the 28 member states. A comparative analysis is also carried out using the indicators registered in 2012 and 2015. Increases in the evolution of the information society are recorded in all Member States.
