Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing: The Wisconsin Experience

Abstract: Computing has become an integral part of an engineering education. From the moment a student arrives on the University of Wisconsin—Madison campus, until graduation with advanced degrees, the educational program provides convenient access to appropriate computing facilities to enhance a student's experience and expand learning opportunities. If engineering education is to contribute to future industrial growth and economic recovery, graduates must be well grounded in the principles and techniques of computer aided engineering in research, design, and manufacturing.
