Abstract:
Net geographical interactions are assumed to be related to differences in attractivity, reduced by spatial separation. It is demonstrated that only the differences of the marginals of the interaction table are required to calculate the geographical attractivities thus defined. Variants of this potential model are confronted with a 48 × 48 table of interstate migration estimates for the United States.
