Abstract: In the context of systems of nodal infrastructure facilities such as schools, kindergartens, libraries, fire stations, and waste-disposal sites, the adequate equipment of a region with these facilities depends mainly on their central location with respect to demand. Central location is considered to be the dominant locational factor. Based on principles of spatial behavior and on locational goals, ten mathematical models for the location–allocation problem are derived. The models relate to concepts of accessibility and access opportunity.
