Abstract: In this paper a critical review is presented of recent attempts to develop shortcut input-output-type multipliers from a variety of nonsurvey techniques. Particular attention is focused on the underlying theoretical assumptions and the dangers involved in adopting techniques which are not consistent with the underlying theoretical foundation of input-output models.
