Abstract:
Arguably, the potential impact of the Single European Market on industry restructuring has been overstated. Nevertheless such processes of restructuring are likely to be at their most apparent among multinationals and in the peripheral region setting. In this paper I explore the possible impact of market integration on manufacturing industry in a peripheral European Union ‘region’; Wales. I consider the character of, and prospects for, multinational manufacturing investment in Wales in relation to processes of European integration.
