Abstract: This paper is a review of the literature of that area of spatial interaction which attempts to accommodate the affects of spatial structure. A brief history of this problem is presented, together with criticisms of suggested alternative solutions. Next, spatial interaction in a Christaller K = 3 hierarchy is outlined and its principal components evaluated. Finally, some tentative conclusions as well as several areas for subsequent research are mentioned.
