Abstract: A summary of recently published statistics show an actual or imminent population decline in the great metropolitan regions of many, if not all, of the major industrialized nations (Japan, France, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, Italy, the USA). The only exceptions so far found to this emerging trend are Finland and Hungary.
