Abstract:
A progress report is given on the development of a software concept for decentralized regional planning in a district of Sri Lanka. The idea was to provide capabilities in map drawing and data-base management by linking existing popular, off-the-shelf, commercial software. The reasoning was to take advantage of the software expertise and infrastructure that is already in place. Programs are described for a regional planning which link a computer-aided design package and a data-base package.
