Abstract: In this paper I address some of the criticisms levelled at CAD researchers who invoke hermeneutical theories, in particular the hermeneutics of Martin Heidegger. The paper serves as an introduction to some of the lively debates surrounding hermeneutical theory as they pertain to technical studies.
