Industry—Academic Links: The Case of Oxford University

Helen Lawton Smith

Environment and Planning C, 1991, vol. 9, issue 4, 403-416

Abstract: The scale and scope of industry and academic links are increasing. The willingness of industry to invest in university research is a response to changing economic and technological imperatives. In advanced industrialised countries, governments have played an important role in defining the relationships between industry and universities. Oxford University is used as a case study to examine the nature of industry and academic links, and their consequences.
