FIIB Business Review, 2018, vol. 7, issue 1, 28-42

Abstract: Nascent entrepreneurs are frequently subject to a great number of professional stressors caused by their work activities and thus making them potential candidates for burnout. This phenomenon may threaten their health as well as their new ventures. Indeed, it has some detrimental effects due to the fact that those new business owners have few resources, energy and skills, enabling them to deal with the psychosocial risks derived from the entrepreneurial burnout. The objective of this study is, then, to shed some light on the concept of entrepreneurial burnout and its potential contributors. In order to reach this purpose, a review of the existing literature is used as the basis for the development of a model that could form a fundamental tool to facilitate future research. By exploring the causes as well as the consequences of the entrepreneurial burnout, an overview of the essential factors and methods that could help to mitigate its main impacts would be proposed.
