Potential for Augmenting Trade and Commercial Ties between India and the SAARC-ASEAN Region

Abstract: Emergence of regional trading blocs like EC, NAFT A, SAARC, etc. has resulted in the strengthening and enhancement of economic and trade relations between the countries in particular and world at large. The collective self-reliance emanating out of these regional trade blocs has become crucial for the developing countries to manoeuvre against the pressures exerted by the developed nations. The objective of the paper is to explore the potential of enhancing trade and commercial ties between India and SAARC-ASEAN region in areas of comparative advantage. It also aims to explore wider business opportunities at mutually advantageous terms.
