Abstract:
This study aimed to present a succession-planning management model with a core competency approach in the Iranian National Gas Company. For this purpose, qualitative and quantitative (mixed) methods were employed. The research population of the qualitative phase included 11 experts of the Iranian National Gas Company and 5 university professors, all selected by the purposeful sampling method. The data collection instrument was a semi-structured interview, and content analysis was exploited for data analysis. In the quantitative phase, the statistical population comprised the headquarter managers of the Iranian National Gas Company, and the census method was employed. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire analysed by the confirmatory factor analysis in the SPSS and PLS software. The findings reveal that the dimensions of the contextual factors, competency, design, implementation and evaluation contribute to the development of the succession-planning concept. The designed model possesses 5 dimensions, 9 components and 24 indices.
