Nuri Yeşilyurt: Nuri Yeşilyurt is an Associate Professor of international relations at the Faculty of Political Science of Ankara University (Turkey). He is currently (2021–2022) a visiting researcher at the Conflict Analysis Research Centre (CARC) of the University of Kent (UK), School of Politics and International Relations. His research at CARC focuses on the problem of security sector reform in post-revolution Libya and is funded by the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK).
Shaimaa Magued: Shaimaa Magued is an Ernst Mach Research Fellow at the OIIP from October 2021 to July 2022. She is also an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. Shaimaa’s research interests centre on international relations in the Middle East, Turkish Foreign policy, Turkish–Arab Relations, and transnational advocacy. She specifically examines questions on identity politics and their impact on intra-regional dynamics, and the nature of interstate relations.

Abstract:
This commentary explains various implications of a possible Turkish–Egyptian reconciliation. Based on an extensive analysis of Turkish and Egyptian newspapers and open-ended and semi-structured in-depth interviews, this commentary addresses the significance of a Turkish–Egyptian reconciliation for both countries, its regional implications and the prospects for bilateral relations. In this context, the commentary discusses the domestic, bilateral and regional implications of a prospective reconciliation between Turkey and Egypt.
