Economic Aspects of Environmental Accounting

Roefie Hueting

Journal of Interdisciplinary Economics, 1987, vol. 2, issue 1, 55-71

Abstract: This article explains that the environment forms an integral part of the economy. It then presents three applications of data on environmental losses and restoration: their integration in the System of National Accounts and their incorporation in cost-benefit analyses and economic models. Some arguments are given for the importance of doing so, notably in developing countries.
