Social Interventions for Liquid Waste Management on Livelihood: A Case of Indore, India

Abstract: Liquid waste disposal is a significant global issue, contributing to health hazards and unhygienic conditions. Addressing these challenges is critical, and one effective approach is through social intervention using Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) methods to influence individual behaviours. Changing people’s mindsets and introducing new practices is undoubtedly challenging, but Indore City has shown that it is possible. Through persistent efforts and innovative strategies, Indore has transformed itself into one of the cleanest cities in India. This success story highlights that with the right educational tools and community engagement, substantial improvements in waste management and public health can be achieved.
