Abstract:
After 50 years of Independence Orissa is all poised to take a place on the industrial map of India. Setting up new industries in greenfield areas is a mammoth task. What adds to the difficulty of such projects is acquiring land, evacuating the people, and providing them with alternative employment and rehabilitation. This article attempts to discuss the problem of rehabilitation. It deals with the factors that are potential impediments to any programme of rehabilitation and then proposes a working model as a possible guideline for the major industries setting up greenfield projects in Orissa.
