II. Kuhn's Concept of the Paradigm

Jayanata Mitra

Management and Labour Studies, 2000, vol. 25, issue 1, 37-42

Abstract: Kuhn's concept of the paradigm which guides research, until it is replaced by a new paradigm, as a result of a revolution marks a new stage in the history of science. What is the background to Kuhn's thinking; what is the real meaning of paradigm; how are scientific revolutions caused; can Kuhn's ideas be applied to the social sciences? These and similar questions are posed in the article.
