Abstract:
Successful human resource management requires mastery of a tremendous amount of well-organized information. An information system is required to communicate effectively with the environment, while, the information system, in some form or the other, has been in existence. It is only recently that the formal Human Resources Information System (HRIS) using IT (Information Technology) is being implemented. Most of the studies made on HRIS are descriptive, non-specific and generic in nature and far from empirical bases while, the HRIS scenario in India has largely remained unexplored. No in-depth study has so far ever been attempted on a single large organization. It is in this backdrop that the present study has been undertaken to fill this vital gap in the existing research. This paper is an attempt to study the effectiveness of HRIS of a large organization like NALCO.
