Abstract: Today, product and service quality is a major concern in both private and public sector organizations since it serves as a means of facing global competition. However, we do not know exactly how organizational commitment of operational employees is related to the total quality management (TQM) excellence of an organization. Therefore, the current study fills this gap by investigating the relationship between organizational commitment and TQM excellence. Data from 67 operational-level employees in apparel manufacturing firms in Sri Lanka showed that the three components of organizational commitment were jointly and separately related to the TQM excellence. These relationships were positive and moderate. The implications of the study are also discussed.
