Plastics: Wonder Material in Trouble

Dr. M. A. Haque

Paradigm, 1999, vol. 3, issue 1, 160-163

Abstract: Plastics once considered to be the most versatile and wonderful material available to man have been advocated as the greatest enemies of the environment by environmentalists. In our country, plastics are facing opposition for their use in packaging. Import of plastic wastes from other countries as a part of counter-trade is adding to the problem. Legal initiatives at Central and State levels have been in progress to overcome this problem along with industry's intervention.
