Abstract:
Software, the major component of digital world, is all about the using the power of ideas to solve problems. The relation of software industry and the Intellectual Property Rights is a tricky one. There is a debate going on worldwide on the issue: copyright or open end free software? As per the legal opinion. IPR provisions must be implemented irrespective of a firm, industry or country is concerned. But from an analyst's point of view, this issue needs to be viewed in a wider perspective. The paper is an attempt to analyze the IPRs with reference to socio-economic dynamics of software piracy.
