Abstract:
On the basis of interfacing and some other distinct variables of expectancy theory and planned behaviour theory, valence, attitude, subjective norm and perceived control were used as predictor variables under a new model. The proposed model was tested through the present empirical study for its applicability in prediction of involvement of teachers in their research activities. Sixty-two college and university teachers were administered various questionnaires. Results obtained on the basis of multiple regres sion analysis of the data revealed that valence of research outcomes was the most important factor for explaining involvement. Perceived control and subjective norms also made a significant contribution but attitude towards research activities was found to be insignificant. The proposed model was compared with the expectancy and planned behaviour theories, and found to be more useful than the other two.
