Public Finance Review, 1982, vol. 10, issue 4, 427-455

Abstract: Using multiple discriminant analysis, this article examines the factors that affect municipal bond ratings through the use of a data set that includes more municipalities and municipal characteristics than the data sets used in previous studies. This data set permits a more detailed examination of the role of city size and location in the bond rating process. The study concludes with some observations on the directions for further research.
