Abstract: This paper examines the subculture of violence thesis (Wolfgang, 1958) as an example of a sociological theory with a feedback process. The thesis is operationalized in a simultaneous equation model, which is solved through a technique which uses only a "canned" ordinary least squares computer program. The findings do not support the subculture of violence thesis.
