Abstract:
This research note presents an analysis of tourism employment niches in the Autonomous Community of Aragón. First, a description of the sector at the county level is given, to explore differences and similarities across the 33 geographical counties of Aragón. Second, the authors identify tourism specializations in the local economy to determine whether the sector has the potential to provide a stable or growing base for the future. Finally, they identify concrete employment opportunities in each region. The evidence confirms that regions with greater specialization are very active in generating employment and, interestingly, certain counties where the tourist sector is incipient emerge as employment niches for the most qualified workers.
