Abstract:
The Americas form the second largest destination region in international tourism. The World Tourism Organization reported 123 million tourist arrivals (excluding day-visits) in this region in 1998, 3.2% above 1997, with receipts from international tourism totalling US$120 billion, 0.9% above 1997 (in current US$, excluding international fares and including receipts from day-visitors). Tourist arrivals, cruise passengers and receipts are presented for the 51 countries (by sub-regions).
