Abstract: This article continues the recent debate in Urban Studies on the supply of land. It specifies the analytical framework; corrects misinterpretations of Wiltshaw (1985); emphasises the possibility of the individual possessing a powerful welfare effect and a backward bending land supply curve; and stresses the need to consider the distributions of non-land income and landownership, as well as the form of the utility function, when aggregating supply for a particular use.
