Abstract:
Though the public sector in India has occupied a prominent place, it has changed over the years with the initiation of economic reforms and liberalisation measures. Certain enterprises have been categorized as ‘navratna’, some have been included in another category, namely, ‘mini-ratnas’ giving them greater financial and operational autonomy so that these profit-making enterprises are able to operate in a framework that will be ‘depoliticised, deregulated and debureaucratised’.
