Abstract:
This case illustrates the issues faced by an organization in attracting and retaining talent. OQT Labs is operating in a specialty diagnostic industry in Indian market. It is intending to grow the top line and has plans to invest majorly in expansion of the laboratories. The dilemma faced by the MD of the organization is how to achieve the targets in view of the acute talent crunch and high manpower attrition rates. OQT Labs is facing key talent shortage, which could hamper the growth of the organization, because employees with the right skills and behaviour are not easily available externally. The supply of internal talent is equally uncertain because of retention problems. This is a discussion-based case where the MD, the CEO and the HR head are brainstorming to find a solution to the problem of hiring the right talent and to retain the talent for a viable period of time.
