Abstract:
Johann Heinrich von Thünen's contributions to econometrics include: the formulation of first economic model; one of the first aplications of mathematics in the analysis of economic problems; and the pioneer use of empirical data from observation and experiments in the use and validation of an economic model. This essay presents and discusses the main lessons which may be gleaned from is masterpiece, The Isolated State, as well as a summary of its most important theories.
