Abstract: The paper contributes to the current state of knowledge by providing the reader with evidence of how information technologies are influencing the development of digital data flows and how their increasing role and global exposure is influencing the digital economy. The research aims to link information technology and the digital economy to understand how they are interrelated. The realisation of the work implicitly involves the combined application of a number of research techniques and procedures, through which researchers seek to draw conclusions built on previous research and to complement it with their own experiences and results, formulating a final conclusion on the topic to be researched.
