Abstract: Managing stakeholder relations and achieving the strategic goals of sustainable development is only possible with a strengthened corporate governance system. Developed in the 1970s, the concept of corporate governance has been widely debated in the literature, adapting to changes and developments in the global economy. The purpose of this article is to analyze the evolution of corporate governance research and highlight current and future research directions. The research methodology is based on bibliometric analysis of research on Web of Science platforms using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix software. The results of the research are to highlight the evolution of corporate governance practices and to establish current and future research directions. The research is useful for academics and regulators tracking the evolution of corporate governance and the adaptability of governance principles to current paradigm shifts.
