Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to highlight the link between the regional science and the regional development from EU. With the focus on the region, regional science has experienced, over 50 years of existence, different forms of manifestation, but also periods of progress and decay. One of its important features is multidisciplinarity, which provides it a special status. The current period offers it an opportunity of outstanding manifestation, regarding regional development, allowing it to combine theoretical and practical research. Thus, among others, regional science can provide a theoretical and methodological basis for the objectives of reducing the regional imbalances.
