Development of the market relations in Russia led to change of conditions and a mode of use of water resources in the course of economic activity.The modern system of water use of the country is estimated as inefficient, poor quality of providing the population testifies to it drinking water,an unsatisfactory qualitative condition of water objects, a large number of water management accidents, because of wear of water supply systemsand hydraulic engineering constructions and orientation to extensive water use. One of the main reasons of it is inadequacy and an inefficiencyof the economic mechanism of stimulation of rational water use. This article considers modern economic instruments of regulation of water use.
