Abstract: The article is devoted to the role of coal in the energy system of North-East Asia. The special attention is paid to the coal reserves, production and consumption in the region. Description of the foreign trade of the North-East Asia countries is given. The author notes the importance of North-East Asia in the world coal market. In conclusion, the prospects of Russian Federation participation at the coal market of North-East Asia are marked.
