Abstract:
Quality management has become a real problem for most Russian enterprises. ISO 9000 is a series of standards from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which outlines the requirements for quality management systems in organizations. This article reviews some of the experience gained by foreign companies which have implemented these systems and have obtained the ISO 9000 certificate. Special attention is paid to the key benefits of this certification. The author then outlines some of the specifics of quality system implementation and various factors associated with the failure of quality management initiatives. A brief review of the current global situation with ISO 9000 certification is also given.
