Abstract: The article deals with the analysis of the current changes in De Beers, a diamond monopolist, from the points of view of its positioning and approach to the world market. A special attention is paid to the process of diversification of the company's business, the main focus shifting from the diamond production towards the retail sale of the jewelry. The company's attempts to overcome adverse market tendencies are considered, as well.
