Abstract: The article is devoted to the actual problems of research organizations in the modern Russian economy. The article considers the most painful questions of the state and development of research organizations included into the Russian Academy of Science, R&D sphere of the national High School, position of former branch research organizations, as well rapid installment of recently founded small private research organizations. The article represents a vast statistics data and the results of sociologic surveys of the Centre of Research and Statistics of Science. If compared to the pessimistic tone typical for newspapers publications on the subject, some unexpected conclusions are made in the article.
