Abstract: This article comprises the analysis of the yearly Index of Economic Freedom, which is published by The Wall Street Journal in cooperation with The Heritage Foundation. The special emphasis is concentrated on the methodology used for the compilation of the Index, including the comparative table of so-called «economic freedom factors» for four countries: Germany, Russia, Brazil and Nigeria. The definition of «economic freedom» as interpreted by the overseas authors is also examined.
